Oppenheimer adds Jeffrey Lipton as municipal bond research director

By Toni Weeks

San Luis Obispo, Calif., June 30 – Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. announced the addition of Jeffrey A. Lipton as a managing director of municipal bond research.

Lipton will spearhead Oppenheimer’s efforts to assess the strategic implications of federal and state governmental policy on the municipal securities market and provide insights with respect to portfolio construction, relative value and credit exposure.

Lipton is a credit analyst, manager, writer and speaker who will provide municipal credit analysis and general market trends to both the high-net-worth and institutional investor community, senior managing director Robert S. Lowenthal said in a press release.

Lipton joins Oppenheimer from MetLife, where he was director and senior municipal credit analyst. During his four years at MetLife, he monitored portfolio holdings, provided sector reviews to senior management and acted as lead analyst for health-care, airports, higher-education and general obligation bonds issue by high-volume state credits. Prior to that, he worked in a similar capacity at Neuberger Berman and Weiss, Peck & Greer.

New York-based Oppenheimer is a provider of wealth management, securities brokerage and investment banking services.
