Open Range Communications requests two-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 30 - Open Range Communications Inc. is seeking an extension to its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period to April 3 from Feb. 3 and the solicitation period to June 4 from April 3.

According to the motion, Open Range needs more time to consider its "go forward" options for its bankruptcy case and to preserve its ability to negotiate and file a liquidation plan without the distraction of competing plans.

In addition, the company said the bar dates for filing general and governmental claims have not yet been established. Open Range said it will need time to review claims once filed.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16.

Open Range is a Greenwood Village, Colo.-based broadband company that filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 6. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-13188.
