Malden Mills changes name to OM Industries following asset sale

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, March 26 - Malden Mills Industries, Inc. requested court approval to change the company names on the Chapter 11 cases of Malden Mills and its subsidiary debtors as a result of corporate name changes prompted by the sale of substantially all company assets, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts.

According to the motion, under the sale agreement, Malden Mills agreed to stop using all of the corporate names, trade names and trademarks included in the purchased intellectual property.

As a result, effective March 23, Malden Mills changed its name to OM Industries, Inc.; Malden Mills Distributors Corp. to OM Distributors Corp.; and Malden Mills GmbH Holding, Inc. to OM GmbH Holding, Inc.

Malden Mills, a Lawrence, Mass.-based textile company, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 10 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The case was transferred to the Massachusetts court on Jan. 16. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-40124.
