Ohio’s FirstEnergy pollution control bonds have mandatory purchase

Norfolk, Va., Aug. 7 – The State of Ohio said its $218.19 million of FirstEnergy Nuclear Generation Project pollution control revenue refunding bonds are subject to mandatory tender for purchase on Aug. 21, according to multiple notices.

The following will be purchased at par plus accrued interest to the conversion date:

• $90.14 million of 2006-A Ohio Water Development Authority bonds;

• $15.5 million of 2006-B Ohio Air Quality Development Authority bonds;

• $9.1 million of 2008-B Ohio Air Quality Development Authority bonds;

• $20.45 million of 2008-B Ohio Water Development Authority bonds;

• $33 million of 2008-C Ohio Water Development Authority bonds; and

• $50 million of 2009-B Ohio Air Quality Development Authority bonds.

The interest rate modes for the bonds are also being converted to the long-term rate from the daily rate, effective as of the conversion date.

The Bank of New York Mellon Trust Co., NA is the bond registrar, tender agent, paying agent and trustee.

Based in Akron, Ohio, FirstEnergy Nuclear Generation is a subsidiary of energy conglomerate FirstEnergy Corp. Located in Columbus, Ohio, the water corporation provides funding to local governments for projects related to pollution control, solid waste disposal, water reclamation and other water services. The air quality corporation, based in Columbus, provides funding for clean air projects.
