Fitch affirms Ohio Power

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed the ratings for Ohio Power Co.'s issuer default rating at BBB, senior unsecured debt and pollution control bonds at BBB+, preferred stock at BBB-, short-term issuer default rating and commercial paper at F2.

The agency also said it affirmed Columbus Southern Power Co. OPC's issuer default rating at BBB+, senior unsecured debt and pollution control bonds at A-, short-term issuer default rating and commercial paper at F2.

Fitch also said it revised the outlook for Ohio Power to positive from stable.

The outlook for Columbus Southern Power remains stable.

The ratings on Columbus Southern reflect the company's strong credit metrics, modest leverage and diverse service territory, Fitch said.

The ratings on Ohio Power reflect the company's improving credit metrics, cash flow from solid regulated electric utility operations and low capital spending plans, the agency said.
