By Jeff Pines

Washington, Nov. 16 - Oglebay Norton Co.'s reorganization plan was confirmed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the company said.

The company expects to emerge from bankruptcy by early January.

In accordance with the terms of the plan of reorganization, as of the close of business on the confirmation date of the plan, the stock transfer register for the common stock of the company will be closed.

The company intends to focus on extracting, processing and providing minerals and is looking to sell its mica operations.

Oglebay Norton, a Cleveland-based provider of minerals and aggregates, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 23, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-10558.
