Oglebay Norton wins rehearing of evidence for plan confirmation

New York, Oct. 28 - Oglebay Norton Co. said U.S. bankruptcy judge Joel Rosenthal granted its motion for a rehearing of evidence on confirmation of its plan of reorganization.

On Oct. 5, the judge refused to confirm the plan because of concerns about the adequacy of insurance for future tort liability claims related to asbestos and silica products.

A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 16 at which more evidence will be presented on the question of insurance coverage.

Oglebay Norton filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 23, 2004 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-10558.
