Oglebay Norton asks court to extend exclusive periods into next spring

By Jeff Pines

Washington, Oct. 19 - Oglebay Norton Co. asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware Tuesday to extend its exclusive right to file a plan of reorganization to April 20 and its exclusive right to solicit votes to June 20.

The Cleveland-based minerals company said it wants the extra time to discuss its options with its creditors.

Oglebay Norton's proposed second amended plan was denied confirmation Oct. 5 after a four-day hearing.

On Oct. 28, there will be a hearing on whether the company can reopen the record of the confirmation hearing and amend and make more findings of fact and reconsider the denial.

Oglebay Norton filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 23, 2004. The Chapter 11 case number is 04-10558.
