OccuLogix changes stock ticker symbol

By Elaine Rigoli

Tampa, Fla., Sept. 1 - OccuLogix, Inc. said Friday that, effective immediately, its stock ticker symbols will change to "OCCX" on the Nasdaq and to "OC" on the Toronto Stock Exchange in connection with the imminent completion of the acquisition of SOLX, Inc.

"While we remain committed to successfully bringing our RHEO system for the treatment of dry [age-related macular degeneration] AMD to market, we are also very excited about the expansion of our focus to include the treatment of other age-related eye diseases like glaucoma via our pending acquisition of SOLX," chairman and chief executive officer Elias Vamvakas said in a news release.

"We believe that these new stock ticker symbols are more inclusive and will better reflect the company's diversified position."

OccuLogix is a health care company based in Toronto.
