OCA doctors ask court to force creditors committee to release financial information

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 4 - OCA Inc.'s group 1 doctors asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana to force the company's official committee of unsecured creditors to disclose financial information to its non-creditor constituents, according to a Wednesday court filing.

The doctors said the committee is required by bankruptcy law to provide the financial information and called OCA's pre-bankruptcy public financial information "worthless."

The doctors are looking for information on projections that currently justify the need for debtor-in-possession financing, actual financial reports in connection with OCA's March 15 projections and basic financial information, including payables, receivables and a general ledger.

The request stems from the company's March 15 contention that it would not survive without $7 million in emergency financing.

The doctors said as of May 1, the company has not drawn down any of the requested emergency financing.

OCA, a Metairie, La., provider of business services to orthodontic and dental practices, filed for bankruptcy on March 14. The Chapter 11 case number is 06-10179.
