Five Nuveen municipal funds to raise capital via equity shelf programs

New York, March 20 - Nuveen Investments announced that five of its municipal closed-end funds will establish equity shelf programs.

Nuveen California Municipal Value Fund, Inc., Nuveen California Investment Quality Municipal Fund, Inc., Nuveen New Jersey Premium Income Municipal Fund, Inc., Nuveen California Performance Plus Municipal Fund, Inc. and Nuveen Virginia Premium Income Municipal Fund have each filed initial registration statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission to allow them to raise additional equity capital by issuing additional common shares from time to time, in varying amounts and utilizing various offering methods at a net price that is at or above each fund's net asset value per common share.

Chicago-based Nuveen Fund Advisors, Inc. is the investment adviser to the funds.
