Nutra Pharma subsidiary Designer Diagnostics' test kits to be used by WHO

By Elaine Rigoli

Tampa, Fla., March 31 - Nutra Pharma Corp. said that Designer Diagnostics, a subsidiary of Nutra Pharma, and Svizera Labs have agreed in principal to supply Designer Diagnostics' test kits to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Svizera will begin distribution of the kits after completion of a series of required testing and analysis, according to a news release.

Svizera is currently the exclusive provider of tuberculosis test kits to WHO and also provides 60% of the antibiotics for the treatment of tuberculosis to WHO, Nutra Pharma said.

"The planned partnership with Svizera is an incredible opportunity for Designer Diagnostics. It will allow us to distribute our diagnostic test kits directly where they are needed most," said Neil Roth, president of Designer Diagnostics, in a statement.

"We expect distribution as soon as the testing and analysis requirements for WHO are met and then to grow the distribution levels dramatically over the next 12 months."

In 2005, Svizera distributed over 15 million diagnostic test kits to WHO.

Details of the Designer Diagnostics agreement include replacing the current tuberculosis diagnostic test kits being distributed by Svizera with the introduction of the Designer Diagnostics' nontuberculosis mycobacteria test kit and antibiotic sensitivity kits, according to the release.

Svizera is owned by Maneesh Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. in India.

Nutra Pharma Corp. is a Boynton Beach, Fla.-based biopharmaceutical company that acquires, licenses and commercializes pharmaceutical products and technologies.
