Northfield Laboratories files $100 million shelf

Washington, Dec. 23 - Northfield Laboratories Inc. registered a $100 million shelf in an S-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Debt securities, common stock, stock purchase contracts, depositary shares and warrants are specifically included in the shelf, which also allows for convertibles.

The Evanston, Ill.-based pharmaceutical firm said proceeds from offerings authorized by the shelf will be used to fund clinical trial activities and to prepare and submit a biologic license application with the Food and Drug Administration, to prepare for the commercial launch of PolyHeme, for business operations and for other general corporate purposes.
