By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., June 10 - Investor Karen Singer upped her stake in Arbinet-thexchange, Inc. to 15.5% from 13.6% with the purchase of 504,200 additional shares of the company's stock.

According to a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the shares were acquired between April 14 and June 9 priced from $3.35 to $3.80 each.

Singer reported the purchase of 298,900 shares of the company's stock between March 17 and March 27 priced from $3.60 to $3.84 in a prior SEC filing.

The investor beneficially owns 3,949,674 shares of the New Brunswick, N.J., electronic market operator company.

In the past, Singer criticized Arbinet-thexchange's strategic review process, saying it failed to benefit shareholders, and had sought the election of her nominees to the company's board of directors.
