MtGox status conference postponed for assessment of Tokyo court orders

By Kali Hays

New York, April 23 - MtGox Co., Ltd. obtained court approval to reset its April 24 status conference to April 30, according to a Tuesday order with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

The company requested the adjournment of the conference because the Tokyo District Court is expected to issue orders on April 24 regarding the company's Japan bankruptcy proceeding and the appointment of a trustee, according to the motion.

As previously reported, the company was placed in provisional administration April 16 after the Tokyo District Court decided to dismiss the company's application for civil rehabilitation.

Nobuaki Kobayashi, who was the supervisor and examiner under the rehabilitation proceeding, was appointed provisional administrator.

All parties present at the company's previous status conference held April 16 agreed to allow April 30 for the following status conference to permit time for analysis of any orders given by the Tokyo court, according to the motion.

MtGox is a Tokyo-based online bitcoin exchange operator. The company filed Chapter 15 bankruptcy on March 9 under case number 14-31229.
