Scotiabank plans capped buffered participation notes tied to MSCI EAFE

Chicago, May 29 - Bank of Nova Scotia plans to price 0% series A capped buffered participation notes linked to the MSCI EAFE index, according to a 424B5 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The payout at maturity will be par plus any gain in the index, up to a maximum redemption amount of $1,100.00 to $1,117.50 per $1,000 principal amount. The exact cap will be set at pricing.

Investors will receive par if the index falls by up to 15% and will lose 1.1765% for each 1% decline beyond 15%.

Scotia Capital (USA) Inc. is the underwriter with Goldman Sachs & Co. as dealer.

The notes will price on May 30 and settle on June 6.

The Cusip number is 064159460.
