Scotiabank plans capped buffered enhanced notes linked to MSCI EAFE

Chicago, April 27 - Bank of Nova Scotia plans to price 0% series A capped buffered enhanced participation notes due 2013 linked to the MSCI EAFE index, according to an SUPPL filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The payout at maturity will be par plus 2.5 times any gain in the index, up to a maximum settlement amount of $1,155.00 and $1,181.25 per $1,000 principal amount. The exact cap will be set at pricing.

Investors will receive par if the index falls by up to 13% and will lose 1.1494% for each 1% decline beyond 13%.

Scotia Capital (USA) Inc. is the underwriter with Goldman Sachs & Co. as dealer.

The notes will price on April 30 and settle on May 7.

The Cusip number is 064159601.
