Movie Gallery operating loss $106.28 million for July 5 to Aug. 8

Pittsburgh, Aug. 31 - Movie Gallery, Inc. reported a $106.28 million operating loss for the period of July 5 to Aug. 8 on $18.14 million in revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The figures showed a decline from the $59.23 million operating loss posted for the period of June 7 to July 4 on $44.38 million in revenues.

The net loss for the latest period was $69.99 million, widening from a $46.43 million net loss for the previous period.

Movie Gallery had $110.5 million in cash and cash equivalents at Aug. 8, up from $96.22 million at July 4.

Movie Gallery, a Wilsonville, Ore.-based video and game rental company, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 2, 2010. Its Chapter 11 case number is 10-30696.
