By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., June 12 - Movie Gallery, Inc. stockholders did not approve the company's proposal to amend its certificate of incorporation to increase the number of authorized shares of common and preferred stock at Movie Gallery's annual meeting of shareholders, according to a form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The shareholders did approve the election of five members to the company's board of directors at the meeting.

The members who were elected are: Joe T. Malugen, H. Harrison Parrish, William B. Snow, John J. Jump and James C. Lockwood.

The shareholders also ratified the appointment of Ernst & Young LLP as Movie Gallery's independent registered public accounting firm for the fiscal year ending Jan. 6, 2008.

Movie Gallery is a Dothan, Ala.-based home entertainment specialty retailer.
