Capital Group slashes its stake in Applied Materials

Philadelphia, Dec. 10 - Capital Group International, Inc. slashed its investment to 0.1% in Applied Materials, Inc. as of Nov. 28, according to an SC 13G/A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

That represents a passive stake of 1,862,140 shares.

Those holdings are down from the passive stake of 5.2%, or 71,846,800 shares, that the company reported owning on Dec. 31, 2007, according to another SC 13G/A filing.

The company first reported owning a passive stake of 6.9%, or 96,772,670 shares, on Dec. 29, 2006, according to an SC 13G filing.

Applied Materials is a Santa Clara, Calif., manufacturer of semiconductor equipment.
