Bank of America acquires $26.88 million in Mirant claims, transfers $25 million

Washington, May 21 - Bank of America reported acquiring $26.88 million in claims against Mirant Corp. and transferring $25 million in Mirant claims, according to Friday filings with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Northern Texas.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank acquired a $2 million claim from KD Distressed and High Income Securities Fund, $7.38 million in claims from Barclays Bank plc; a $2 million claim from Citigroup Financial Products, Inc.; $7.5 million claims from Goldman Sachs Credit Partners, LP; a $5.5 million claim from JPMorgan Chase Bank; and a $2.5 million claim from Greywolf Loan Participation, LLC.

In addition, Bank of America transferred a $12.5 million claim against Mirant to Avenue Special Situations Fund III, LP; a $7.5 million claim to Avenue Special Situations Fund II, LP; a $3 million claim to Loews Corp. and a $2 million claim to Quantum Partners LDC.

Mirant filed for bankruptcy on July 14, 2003. Its Chapter 11 case number is 03-46590.
