Mine Reclamation agrees to exclusivity extension to allow discussions

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 24 - Mine Reclamation, LLC has entered into a stipulation under which its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization will be extended by 60 days, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

The plan-filing period was previously set to expire on June 29 and the solicitation period was set to expire on Sept. 17. The new filing deadline will be Aug. 18, and the solicitation period will now expire on Nov. 16.

According to the filing, Mine Reclamation, Kaiser Eagle Mountain, LLC and the County Sanitation District No. 2 of Los Angeles County have been discussing their positions on the Eagle Mountain Mine property and the potential outcomes and direction of Mine Reclamation's bankruptcy case.

As a result, the company said the extension will give the parties more time for the discussions, which could lead to a consensual resolution of the case.

Mine Reclamation is an Ontario, Calif.-based developer of the Eagle Mountain landfill project. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 30, 2011 under case number 11-43596.
