M. Fabrikant reports $1.04 million January operating loss

Pittsburgh, Feb. 16 - M. Fabrikant & Sons, Inc. reported a $1.04 million operating loss for January on $4.65 million in sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

For the period of Nov. 18 to Dec. 31, the company posted a $650,000 operating loss on $5.18 million in sales.

The net loss for January was $2.28 million, up from a $1.07 million net loss for the previous period.

Cash on Jan. 31 was $7.21 million, compared with $6.32 million at the end of December.

M. Fabrikant, a New York-based manufacturer and distributor of diamonds and gemstone jewelry, filed for Chapter 11 on Nov. 17. Its case number is 06-12737.
