Metromedia Steakhouses seeks three-month exclusivity extension to allow claims analysis

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 18 - Metromedia Steakhouses Co., LP requested an extension to its exclusive plan-filing and vote solicitation periods, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Metromedia has asked the court to extend the exclusive filing period to May 20 from Feb. 19 and the solicitation period to July 20, 2009 from April 20.

According to the motion, Metromedia is analyzing all claims filed against its estates to determine what claims will need to be disputed and how those disputed claims could impact a plan of reorganization.

The company also cited the size and complexity of its bankruptcy case.

Metromedia is a steakhouse company based in Plano, Texas, that operates restaurants under the names Ponderosa Steakhouse and Bonanza Steakhouse. The company filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 22. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-12490.
