Mesaba granted bridge exclusivity extension
By Caroline Salls
Pittsburgh, Feb. 15 - Mesaba Aviation, Inc. obtained a bridge extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota.
The company's exclusive plan filing period was extended to March 10 from Feb. 10 and the solicitation period to May 10 from April 11.
The company wants to extend its exclusive plan filing period to Aug. 10 from Feb. 10 and the solicitation period to Oct. 9, 2006 from April 11.
According to the motion, in light of an industry-wide restructuring, it is critical that Mesaba be permitted the time necessary to reduce costs and restructure operations in order to maximize the value of its estate and assure a successful emergence from Chapter 11 as a competitive airline.
A hearing on the balance of the extension is scheduled for Feb. 28.
Mesaba, an Eagan, Minn.-based Northwest Airlines affiliate, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 13. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-39258.
