Mesaba unions' contract rejection record reopening request denied

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 12 - Mesaba Aviation, Inc.'s pilots, flight attendants and mechanics unions' request to reopen the court record on rejection of their collective bargaining agreements was denied, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota.

In their motion to reopen the record, the unions said they wanted to be able to conduct discovery and present evidence on all elements of the company's contract rejection.

The unions said Mesaba has not provided enough information on the contract terms it intends to impose to allow the unions to evaluate those terms.

Mesaba, an Eagan, Minn.-based Northwest Airlines affiliate, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 13, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-39258.
