Mesa Air Group gets additional time to file plan, garner support

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 15 - Mesa Air Group, Inc.'s exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a plan of reorganization were extended, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The court extended Mesa Air's exclusive filing period to March 1 from Dec. 1, provided that the debtors exclusive filing period is jointly held with the creditors' committee beginning Feb. 15 through March 1, the filing said.

The court also extended the solicitation period to May 2 from Feb. 1, provided that any further extensions of the exclusive solicitation period shall be jointly held by the debtors and the creditors' Committee.

Mesa requested the 120-day extension "out of an abundance of caution" to preserve its right to file a different plan in case the plan it filed on Nov. 23 is not confirmed.

As previously reported, Mesa's disclosure statement was approved last week, and the company said it began soliciting votes on the plan on Nov. 29.

Mesa Air, a Phoenix-based provider of passenger and airfreight services, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 5, 2010. The Chapter 11 case number is 10-10018.
