Mesa Air Group seeks precautionary three-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 30 - Mesa Air Group, Inc. requested an extension to its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period to March 1 from Dec. 1 and the solicitation period to May 2 from Feb. 1.

Mesa said it is filing the motion "out of an abundance of caution" to preserve its right to file a different plan in case the plan it filed on Nov. 23 is not confirmed.

As previously reported, Mesa's disclosure statement was approved last week, and the company said it began soliciting votes on the plan on Nov. 29.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15.

Mesa Air, a Phoenix-based provider of passenger and airfreight services, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 5, 2010. The Chapter 11 case number is 10-10018.
