By Angela McDaniels

Seattle, April 17 - Merriman Curhan Ford & Co. said it hired John Heerdink as a managing director.

In his new position, Heerdink will oversee the private placements practice by working with the firm's business units to continue to create an efficient distribution channel, according to a news release.

Heerdink has more than 15 years of investment banking and financial advisory experience that includes sourcing, structuring and closing PIPE transactions, the firm said. He was recently head of investment banking and business consulting at Alchemy Alternatives, Inc. and, prior to Alchemy, worked at Legend Merchant Group.

Heerdink also co-founded and managed United Capital Partners.

He graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor's degree in finance and economics.

Heerdink will be based out of the firm's San Francisco headquarters.

Merriman Curhan Ford is a securities broker-dealer and investment bank and a subsidiary of MCF Corp.
