By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 25 - Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc. obtained court approval of the $2.45 million sale of its Kentwood, Mich., plant to Roskam Baking Co., according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

According to the motion, the property was formerly used as a manufacturing facility but is currently being used to store unused equipment. Meridian said it does not expect to use it as part of its business operations going forward.

Roskam has paid a $25,000 deposit.

Meridian said it expects the sale to close by Nov. 1.

Meridian, a Dearborn, Mich., supplier of lighting, exterior composites, console modules, instrument panels and other interior systems to automobile and truck manufacturers, filed for bankruptcy on April 26, 2005. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-11168.
