Apex Silver files $200 million shelf registration

Philadelphia, Nov. 15 - Apex Silver Mines Ltd. filed a $200 million shelf registration in an S-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Covered by the shelf are debt securities, preference shares, depositary shares, ordinary shares, warrants and ordinary share purchase rights. Some of the securities may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used to continue evaluation, exploration, advancement and expansion of the company's exploration properties or for other general corporate purposes.

Apex Silver Mines is a Caymans Islands-based mining company developing silver properties in Latin America.
