MediCor looks to extend exclusive plan-filing period through Sept. 30

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, June 23 - MediCor Ltd. has asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to extend its exclusive plan of reorganization filing period to Sept. 30, according to a Friday court filing.

As previously reported, the court requested a 35-day exclusivity extension on May 23, which would have given MediCor the exclusive right to file a plan through June 30.

However, the company said some issues have arisen since that motion was filed, including the filing of an appeal of the order approving the sale of substantially all of its assets and the settlement of a December 2007 adversary proceeding.

As a result, MediCor is now asking the court to extend its exclusive plan-filing period to Sept. 30 from May 26 and the solicitation period to Dec. 1 from July 24.

The hearing is scheduled for July 9.

MediCor, a North Las Vegas, Nev., health care company that makes and sells products for the aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery and dermatology markets, filed for bankruptcy on June 29, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-10877.
