Medicis initiated by Leerink Swann at outperform

Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. was initiated by Leerink Swann & Co. at an outperform rating. Medicis, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused primarily on products for the treatment of acne, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis as well fine lines and wrinkles. Medicis shares on Thursday gained 82 cents, or 2.66%, to close at $31.70 on volume of 1.64 million shares versus the three-month running average of 1.27 million.
