Medical Services begins testing Vscan HIV kits in Germany

By E. Janene Geiss

Philadelphia, June 22 - Medical Services International Inc. said Thursday that it has shipped Vscan HIV test kits to Germany to begin additional testing related to the CE approval of its Vscan HIV test kits.

While the company said it has substantial testing of its Vscan HIV test kit from all over the world that has shown that the Vscan HIV test kit is greater than 99% accurate, easy to use, requires no refrigeration and does not need medical facilities, it is required to conduct several tests in Europe, according to a company news release.

The initial testing, which will take about 30 days to complete, will be done in Germany in approved laboratories.

The company said that it is confident the Vscan HIV test kit will demonstrate outstanding results.

Obtaining CE status will allow the company to market its HIV test kit in an additional 26 countries. All of the necessary applications for CE status have been completed, officials said.

The Vscan rapid test kit is a single-use, disposable test for the screening of HIV 1 and 2, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, dengue fever, West Nile, syphilis, malaria and prostate cancer. The kits cannot be sold in Canada.

Medical Services is an Edmonton, Alta., medically related holding company comprised of two core businesses. The diagnostic test division was created in response to demand for infectious disease test kits.
