S&P: Aon unchanged

Standard & Poor's said that it will take no rating action in response to Aon Corp.'s (BBB+/stable/A-2) announcement that it is considering strategic options for Combined Insurance Co. of America and its subsidiaries, including Combined Life Insurance Co. of NY.

The agency said that Aon's strong competitive position is derived from its well-established global presence in the insurance brokerage industry, supplemented by its globally positioned consulting segment.

According to S&P, the ratings on Aon are supported by its strong competitive position, improving operating performance and strong liquidity while these strengths are somewhat offset by the company's historical operating performance and financial profile that, though appropriate for the rating, are somewhat hampered by historically lagging organic growth levels relative to less-well-positioned peers.
