By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Nov. 12 - Gamco Asset Management Inc. will nominate Carl S. Thigpen for election to the board of directors of Media General, Inc. at the company's 2010 annual meeting, according to a schedule 13D/A filed on Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Thigpen is executive vice president and chief investment officer of Protective Life Corp., the filing said.

Gamco, in a prior SEC filing, said it would nominate up to three director nominees, including former Media General director F. Jack Liebau Jr., for election.

Liebau is an investment manager with Liebau Asset Management Co., LLC.

Gamco beneficially owns 6,263,079 shares, or 28.16%, of the Richmond, Va., communications company's outstanding stock.
