Moody's gives Aa1/VMIG 1 to Mecklenburg County, N.C.

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an Aa1/VMIG 1 rating to Mecklenburg County, N.C.'s $125 million of variable-rate certificates of participation (2008A Mecklenburg County) issued through Mecklenburg County Public Facilities Corp.

The short-term rating is based on a standby purchase agreement from SunTrust Bank. The bank is rated Aa2 for long-term bank deposits and Prime-1 for short-term deposits.

Sale of the certificates is expected on Feb. 20.
