S&P gives AA+/A-1+ to Mecklenburg County, N.C., COPs

Standard & Poor's said it assigned an AA+/A-1+ rating to Mecklenburg County, N.C.'s $125.31 million of series 2008A variable-rate certificates of participation.

The series 2008A certificates are dated Feb. 1 and due Feb. 1, 2028.

S&P also said it affirmed its ratings on the county's previously issued debt.

The county's variable-rate certificates of participation, series 2006 and series 2007, have AA+/A-1 ratings with a stable outlook, and its variable-rate general obligation public improvement bonds, series 2000C, have ratings of AAA/A-1+ with a stable outlook.
