MAXjet looks to extend exclusive solicitation period to June 17

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 18 - MAXjet Airways, Inc. is seeking a four-month extension to its exclusive period to solicit votes on its plan of reorganization, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Specifically, the company wants to extend its exclusive solicitation period to June 17 from Feb. 17.

According to the motion, although the disclosure statement for the company's plan was approved in October, MAXjet is still working with parties in interest and their creditors to confirm a consensual plan in these cases.

The company said its plan confirmation hearing has already been postponed three times, and it could be postponed again.

A hearing is scheduled for March 16.

MAXjet was an all-business-class airline based in Dulles, Va. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Dec. 24, 2007. Its case number is 07-11912.
