MAXjet requests four-month exclusivity extension

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., March 10 - MAXjet Airways, Inc. requested a four-month extension to its exclusive periods to file a Chapter 11 plan and to solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend the exclusive plan-filing period to June 21 from April 22 and the solicitation period to Oct. 20, 2008 from Aug. 20.

The company said since filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy it has been almost entirely focused on winding down its operations, the sale proposal process and preparing schedules and statements of financial affairs. The company said only now is it ready to begin formulating a Chapter 11 plan.

A hearing has been scheduled for March 25.

MAXjet is an all-business-class airline based in Dulles, Va. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-11912.
