Majestic Star Casino asks court for 90-day exclusivity extension

Charlotte, N.C., March 2 - The Majestic Star Casino, LLC is seeking a 90-day extension to its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive plan-filing period to June 21 from March 23 and the solicitation period to Aug. 19 from May 24.

"Without an extension, the debtors would be forced to develop a plan and disclosure statement quickly, and without an accurate valuation of the debtors' businesses," the filing said.

A hearing is scheduled for March 18.

Majestic Star, a Las Vegas-based owner and operator of casino hotels, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 23. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-14136.
