LA Dodgers and Major League Baseball agree to sell team, media rights

Pittsburgh, Nov. 2 - The Los Angeles Dodgers and Major League Baseball have agreed to a bankruptcy court-supervised sale to be managed by the Blackstone Group LP, according to a joint release issued by the team and the league.

"The Los Angeles Dodgers and Major League Baseball announced that they have agreed today to a court-supervised process to sell the team and its attendant media rights in a manner designed to realize maximum value for the Dodgers and their owner, Frank McCourt," the release said.

As previously reported, an evidentiary hearing slated for this week was postponed for one month "at the court's direction," according to documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

A court official said the judge offered no explanation for the postponement.

The hearing was rescheduled for Nov. 29.

Major League Baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers filed for bankruptcy on June 27. The Chapter 11 case number is 11-12010.
