Lincoln National files shelf

By Ted A. Knutson

Washington, March 14 - Lincoln National Corp. filed a shelf for an unspecified dollar amount in an S3-ASR registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The shelf re-registers $600 million in securities.

The shelf includes common and preferred stock, depositary shares, debt securities, trust preferred securities, purchase contracts and units and warrants. Securities may be issued in the form of convertibles.

The Philadelphia-based financial services company said proceeds would be used for general corporate purposes.
