Lehman affiliates intend to explore claim monetization opportunities

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 17 – Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. announced Wednesday that some of its controlled affiliates intend to explore monetization opportunities related to allowed claims they hold against Lehman Brothers Holdings and non-controlled foreign affiliate Lehman Brothers Treasury Co. BV.

According to a news release, Lehman Brothers Holdings is plan administrator for the wind down of its controlled affiliates under its confirmed Chapter 11 plan.

The company said there is no assurance that it will proceed with any monetization opportunities.

New York-based Lehman Brothers was the fourth-largest investment bank in the United States. The company emerged from bankruptcy on March 6, 2012.
