Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 8 - Leerink Swann & Co. announced it has hired William Reiland as a managing director of investment banking.

Reiland will be responsible for originating, structuring and marketing royalty monetizations, mezzanine financings and private equity transactions.

Prior to joining Leerink Swann, Reiland was a managing director at Morgan Stanley. During his 15-year career at Morgan Stanley, he held numerous positions in health care, including investment banker, research analyst, head of high-yield research and, most recently, managing director of Morgan Stanley Principal Investments, a $3 billion internal private equity investment group.

Reiland also co-developed Morgan Stanley's royalty monetization program.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Reiland worked at Bain & Co. and Fidelity Management and Research.

He received his bachelor's degree from Yale University and a master's in business administration from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

"I'm delighted to welcome Bill to our investment banking team," senior managing director and head of investment banking David Ogens said in a press release.

"Bill has a long and impressive career built around creating value for health care companies. His broad range of health care experience in research, advisory and investing roles will further enhance Leerink Swann's unequaled depth in health care and our firm's ability to serve as a trusted advisor to our clients."

Leerink Swann is a Boston-based health care investment bank.
