Holtzman to nominate three to Lakeland Industries board

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 14 - Lakeland Industries, Inc. investors led by Holtzman Opportunity Fund, LP recommended the nomination of Seymour Holtzman, Dennis R. Hernreich and Efrem Gerszberg as candidates for election to the company's board of directors.

Holtzman notified Lakeland Industries in a Jan. 8 letter to corporate secretary Christopher J. Ryan. The letter was included in a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Holtzman is a director and chairman of the board of Casual Male Retail Group.

Hernreich has been executive vice president, chief operating officer, chief financial officer and treasurer of Casual Male Retail Group, Inc.

Gerszberg has been the president of George Foreman Enterprises, Inc. since May of 2004.

In December 2007, Seymour Holtzman and Holtzman Opportunity Fund, LP said they were considering nominating one or more people for election to the company's board of directors and soliciting proxies or written consents in connection with the nominations.

The investors also considered contacting other shareholders "to discuss, among other things, the concerns of shareholders, the election of directors, the operations of the issuer, and ways to maximize shareholder value," a previous SEC filing stated.

The investors beneficially own 395,661 shares, or 7.16%, of the Ronkonkoma, N.Y.-based safety garment manufacturer.
