Anadarko files automatic shelf registration

Des Moines, Sept. 8 - Anadarko Petroleum Corp. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3ASR filing from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock and debt securities. The securities may be structured as convertibles.

The filing includes $1 billion of previously registered but unsold securities.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Anadarko is an oil and natural gas company based in The Woodlands, Texas.
