Amkor talks $300 million 10-year notes at 9¼%-9 3/8%, pricing Thursday

St. Louis, May 10 - Amkor Technology Inc. talked its $300 million offering of 10-year senior notes (Caa1/CCC+) at a yield of 9¼% to 9 3/8% on Wednesday, according to a market source.
The offering is expected to price on Thursday.
Citigroup has the books for the off-the-shelf offering.
The notes will come with five years of call protection.
Proceeds will be used to help fund a tender for up to $271 million of the company's 9¼% senior notes due 2008.
The company also plans to sell $150 million of convertible senior subordinated notes due 2011.
Amkor Technology is a Chandler, Ariz., provider of semiconductor packaging and test services.
