Ameriprise files automatic shelf

New York, May 5 - Ameriprise Financial, Inc. registered an automatic shelf in an S-3ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Covered by the shelf are debt securities, warrants, purchase contracts, units, preferred stock, depositary shares, common stock and trust preferreds. Securities may be combined into units or structured as convertibles.

The shelf includes $1.7 billion of previously registered but unsold securities.

Ameriprise is a Minneapolis-based financial planning and services company. It will use proceeds for general corporate purposes.
