S&P ups Americo view to stable

Standard & Poor's said it revised the outlook on Americo Life Inc. and its subsidiary, Americo Financial Life & Annuity Insurance Co. to stable from negative. The agency also said it affirmed its BBB- counterparty credit rating on Americo Life and A- counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on Americo Financial.

The ratings are based on Americo's strong operating performance, strong capital adequacy and conservative investment portfolio, S&P said.

The company's relatively small scale and narrow product portfolio in the highly competitive life and annuity marketplace somewhat offset the strengths, the agency said.
